How To Add Image To Text

Written 11/1/2014

An often used effect in Photoshop is placing an image into text, like the picture below.

In this tutorial, I will be showing you how you can recreate this effect.

First, we have to find the image that will be placed inside the text. We used this picture of a sky, for the image above. But, you can use a different one, if you like.

We also have to set up the text tool, for use. For this, I used 100pt text, with the Impact font.

Alright! Time to get started! Type the desired words in all capital letters, to make the text look nicer.

Now, you have to move the image layer above the text layer. If done correctly, the image should now cover the text. Next, right click on the image layer, and click “create clipping mask.”

Now, your picture should look like this.

It’s ok so far. However, one of the image’s clouds makes it hard to see the letters. To fix this, we can just select the image layer, and move the image slightly.

That looks much better.

Now, let’s make the text pop, by using blending options. Right click on the text layer and select blending options, or press the fx button on the bottom right. Several options should show up. Click the check boxes on the Bevel and Emboss and Drop Shadow.
